Frances FloElla Dobson, known as Flo, was born April 26, 1927, in Forbes, MO, to Charles Austin Cleland and Frances Grethel (Sipes) Cleland. She grew up in Batavia, IL, where she attended District 101 Schools, graduating in June of 1945. She attended IBM Electric Accounting School. She worked for Barber Greene in Aurora, IL, until she moved to Beaver with her family. She then worked as a secretary to the superintendent of schools at Grand Junction.
Flo married Wayne Lee Dobson on Oct. 29, 1948, in the Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction. The couple made their home in Beaver. In 1953, Flo and Wayne moved their family to Gowrie, where they have since lived. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lanyon.
Flo passed away Feb. 5, 2018, at the Pearl Valley Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Gowrie. She was 90 years of age.
Flo was preceded in death by her parents; sister Alice Hartman; and brothers Shirley Cleland and Daniel Cleland.
She is survived by her husband Wayne Dobson of Gowrie; children Michael Dobson of Onawa, OK, Jodeen (Randy) Kopecky of Farnhamville, Russell (Brenda) Dobson of Elkhart, IA, and Bart (Susan) Dobson of Ames; her brother Charles Cleland of Buffalo, MO; her sister Dorothy Greer of Andersonville, SC; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
